Britni Mara is a contemporary artist from Chicago (Illinois, USA). Her art is instinctive and a reflection of herself. This young artist organizes the chaos of intentional happenstance and brings a sense of structure to coincidence. Her attraction to painting is innate , however in recent years she has expanded her horizons and is exploring new mediums with the aim of creating new original and abstract artistic works.
Explore mediums
Over time and through her different life experiences, Britni Mara has been able to assert her choices and put her convictions at the center of her paintings. Nourishing deep environmentalist ideas, her paintings from 2017-2020 are the result of the use of noble, sustainable and one hundred percent natural products. Guided by an infinite thirst for movement, she paints instinctively and her works are the reflection of her emotions. the artist constantly strives to master her environment and “control the uncontrollable”, she says. Since then, the exploration of new, unconventional mediums has allowed her to glimpse new conceptual subjects. “It allows me to dissect thought and provoke conversation, without straying from my implicit practice of the abstract”, she says.
Beliefs and exhibitions
Britni Mara's vision and artistic creation evolve and her commitments with it. Beyond putting her convictions on canvas, she succeeds in uniting and creating a certain feminine alchemy around her art. Galvanized by this craze, she will open the doors of her studio to female models who want to pass in front of her lens as she did for herself in her series of works entitled The New Body. “I went on stage to show them that vulnerability in front of the camera could be a safe space to heal from our past transgretions, typically asserted on us by men”, she explains. She later created The Hallway Gallery, billed as a gallery designed by a woman for women and non-binary artists. “We have to encourage each other and I feel that I have the shoulders to carry out this project. It makes me happy”, she shares.

Taking your art on a journey
After having exhibited her works across the U.S. and in Chicago the artist decided to take her art on a journey. It is now at the wheel of her converted Sprinter van that she explores her country. She sets out to meet inspiring people, climbers and creatives alike… Climbing is , one of her main activities allowing her to escape and find inspiration. At the bend of a cliff or even a river, she places her inspiration of the moment on canvas, making her abstract art even more connected to who she is and to her environment.
Britni Mara is a full-time contemporary artist. From now on, her commitment is anything but abstract and her art, as colorful and eventful as ever.
